How To Brew

Master the art of tea with Pure & Easy's precision guide — built on professional brewing standards, refined for home enjoyment.

Why Precision Matters

Precision Brewing for Pure Expression

Great tea is not complicated — but it is precise. Temperature, time, water quality, and leaf integrity determine what ultimately arrives in the cup: aroma clarity, flavor balance, mouthfeel and the full spectrum of beneficial compounds naturally present in whole botanicals.

At Pure & Easy Tea, every blend is formulated to express itself cleanly without flavorings, sweeteners, or masking agents. Brewing correctly allows the leaf, root, flower and fruit to unfold exactly as intended.

This guide reflects professional brewing standards refined for home enjoyment.

Step One

The Foundations of Proper Brewing

Water Quality

Start with fresh, filtered water. Chlorine, mineral-heavy tap water, and distilled water all flatten flavor and interfere with extraction. Clean water allows volatile aromatics and delicate polyphenols to remain intact — peer-reviewed research on water mineralization confirms mineral content measurably affects extraction of active compounds.

Temperature Control

Excessive heat scorches delicate leaves and drives bitterness. Lower temperatures preserve clarity, sweetness, and subtle botanicals.

Leaf Expansion

Whole botanicals need space to hydrate and unfurl. Pyramid sachets or loose leaf brewing allows full extraction and dimensional flavor development.

Time, Not Force

Proper steeping extracts gradually. Over-steeping forces tannins and harsh compounds into the cup, masking nuance.

Step Two

Measure & Balance

Great tea begins with proportion.

Loose Leaf
3g
per 8 oz cup
Pyramid Tea Bag
1 sachet
per 8 oz cup
Teapot Service
5–6g
per 16–20 oz pot

For a larger mug, steep the sachet longer for a fuller cup. If brewing loose leaf over ice or into a larger pot, increase the leaf slightly to preserve clarity, depth, and structure.

Precision brings balance. Balance brings purity to the cup.

Step Three

Hot Brewing Guidelines

Luxury & Everyday Teas

Target: Clarity, balance, elegance
175–205°Fahrenheit
5 min
Steep Time

These blends are designed for layered aroma, clean flavor expression, and smooth finish. Shorter steeps emphasize brightness and delicacy. Longer steeps deepen body and structure without bitterness when brewed properly.

Wellness & Performance Teas

Target: Full botanical extraction and functional integrity
200–205°Fahrenheit
7+ min
Steep Time

Roots, barks, seeds, and dense botanicals require additional time to release their active compounds. This longer infusion delivers deeper flavor complexity and maximizes the functional profile of each blend.

If a blend contains particularly dense botanicals (adaptogens, roots, medicinal herbs), extending steep time slightly can further enhance extraction without compromising balance.

Step Four

Personal Calibration

Your palate matters.

Steeping time is not rigid — it is a dial. Small adjustments of 30–60 seconds can shift body, brightness, and finish. The goal is not intensity — it is harmony.

Taste the tea as it steeps. Learn how each blend opens. This is how true tea drinkers develop intuition rather than following rigid rules.

Matcha Preparation

What You’ll Need
  • Shades Of Green Organic Ceremonial Matcha
  • Bamboo whisk (chasen)
  • Matcha bowl (chawan)
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Filtered water
Method
  1. Sift
Sift 1–2 teaspoons into the bowl to remove micro-clumps and ensure uniform texture.
  2. Water
Heat water to approximately 170–175°F. Never boiling.
  3. Add
Pour 2–3 ounces of water over the powder.
  4. Whisk
Whisk briskly in a soft “M” or zig-zag motion until a fine foam forms and the surface appears glossy and uniform.
  5. Finish
Add additional water to taste if desired. Sip slowly.
Professional Notes
  • Cooler water preserves amino acids and natural sweetness.
  • Foam quality reflects freshness and grind integrity.
  • Matcha should taste clean, vegetal, lightly sweet — never chalky or harsh.

Cold Expression

Iced Tea. Zero Compromise.

Iced tea should never taste diluted or thin. Proper concentration and slow extraction preserve aroma clarity, sweetness, and mouthfeel — even when chilled. All Pure & Easy loose-leaf blends are suitable for iced preparation.

Cold Brew Method (Recommended)

1 Tbsp
per 8oz water
8–12 hrs
Refrigerate
  1. Add tea to a glass pitcher or filter bag.
  2. Fill with cold, filtered water.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 8–12 hours.
  4. Strain and serve chilled.

Cold extraction minimizes tannins while preserving aromatics and antioxidants, producing an exceptionally smooth finish.

Flash Chill Method (When Time Is Limited)

  1. Brew tea at double strength using hot water.
  2. Steep according to hot guidelines.
  3. Pour directly over ice to rapidly chill and stabilize flavor.

This method preserves brightness and structure without dilution.

Storage & Freshness
  • Store refrigerated up to 48–72 hours.
  • Use sealed glass containers to preserve aroma integrity.
  • Avoid plastic storage when possible.

Final Thought

Pure & Easy Tea does not need embellishment.

When whole botanicals are respected, properly extracted, and brewed with intention, flavor emerges naturally — not through chemistry or additives, but through time, temperature, and care.

That is the Pure & Easy way.
